The Mustang John Wick Drives!
John Wick, played by Keanu Reeves, is the coolest character in recent film history. While few of us will ever have Reeves' level of flair and attitude, we may still drive his cherished vehicle though.
The 1969 model year was the first year that the Mustang's design underwent significant modifications.
Mustang 1969 Mach 1
As the Pony Car conflict reached its pinnacle, Ford Motor Company responded with the 1969 Ford Mustang Mach 1. It was the meanest-looking Mustang up to that moment, and it embarrassed the GT in sales to the point that the GT was terminated and replaced by the COPO-rivaling 7.0-liter Cobra Jet engine.
The Mach 1 was popular enough that it was kept in production until Ford reverted to the GT name with the arrival of the Foxbody. During the SN-95's lifetime, the Mach 1 was resurrected as a mid-range model that stood above the GT but below the SVT Cobra. Many speculations have surfaced since then, implying that the Mach 1 would return as a trim level for the sixth-generation Mustang.

The Mach 1 hit 62 mph in under 6 seconds in its most extreme configuration, with a Cobra Jet V8 under the hood, and completed the standing quarter-mile in only 14 seconds with a gate speed of 103 mph.
The Mach 1 offered a broad range of options for its buyers, including engines, axles, gearboxes, external trims and add-ons, and interior and exterior colours. It was nirvana for individuals who enjoy filling out paperwork at the dealership and loading their automobiles with accessories.
The Cobra Jet 7.0-liter V8 engine was the top of the range, and it came with a Ramair intake as an option. With 335 horsepower and 440 pound-feet of torque, that four-barrel monster was a force to be reckoned with. The "drag pack" included a Super Cobra Jet engine with a cast iron tail shaft instead of the standard aluminium one. It also came with a 3.91 or 4.30 ratio “traction lok” rear axle.

The Mach 1's interior is crammed with features, the interior door panels and dash include two-tone vinyl upholstery, high-back seats, and teakwood-grained trim. With three circular holes punched in each spoke, the three-spoke rim-blow steering wheel is as huge as you'd expect. With the tachometer and speedometer in the centre and the fuel and temperature gauges on the sides, you have four gauges staring at you. The passenger has something to gaze at as well, since the analogue clock allows him to track the passage of time.
Despite its sportiness, the Mach 1 maintained the back seats, which, despite the same wheelbase, aren't especially tight.
There was also a variant with rear seats that folded down for more storage space.
Length 108 in Wheelbase 107.1 in
Height 50.5 in Width 71.7 in
The Mustang's transformation in 1969 demonstrates the developing tendency of increasing the size of what were formerly relatively small coupes at the time.
Muscle Car Classic
Ford increased the Mustang's overall length by 3.8 inches by extending the front and rear overhangs. As a result, the wheelbase remains at 108 inches. In addition, the roofline was reduced by about an inch. Reflective stripes on the sides and across the upper edge of the rear end, right over the Mustang branding, interrupt the car's lines, with "Mach 1" inscribed on the stripe itself.
The enormous grille dominates, large enough to accommodate two more headlight units on either side, with the symbol relocated to the right-hand side and the red, white, and blue stripes acting as a backdrop.
The car had an aggressive-looking lower lip that dramatically reduced ground clearance, but it worked well with other racing-inspired components like the matte-black hood scoop and the pins that kept the hood in place. The louvres behind the side windows were also eliminated, but Ford felt its consumers would still want a dose of louvres, so they provided optional louvres for the back window, called "Sport Splats." Once again, it's a feature that restricted usability while enhancing the car's athletic appearance. Another optional addition, the rear spoiler, was the final piece of the puzzle, but it's unclear whether it truly helped with handling.
There are, however, those out there that are willing to give you a vintage appearance while incorporating current technology, such as Classic Recreations of Yukon, Oklahoma, which just finished the custom build of a customer's "Hitman" 1969 Mustang Mach 1.
Classic Recreations is a Ford-licensed manufacturer of re-creations and continuation automobiles, and their turn-key 1969 or 1970 Mustang Mach 1 builds start at $169,000. It uses either a historical body or a modern replica with fuel-injected Ford crate engine.
The Classic Recreations Mustang Mach 1 is a customised car, custom-built to the owner's wishes,” the company said in a statement about ‘Hitman.' Whether a Mach 1 leaves the workshop as a period-correct re-creation or as a resto-mod loosely based on the original
car, the end result is entirely up to the customer.
