Maserati isn't renowned for fitting in, thus the 2022 Quattroporte stands out in the full-size luxury car market with its brazenness. Competing sedans like the Mercedes-Benz S-class, BMW 7-series, and Audi A8 have greater comfort and convenience amenities, but the Maserati turns up the heat with a trio of turbocharged powertrains meant to entice passionate drivers. The Quattroporte may be customised in a number of ways, including with a wide variety of interior accessories and exterior styling choices. The Quattroporte nonetheless provides an upmarket experience with a distinct, performance-oriented bent, while being less roomy and less fully equipped than the sector leaders.

For 2022, there will only be three versions available for the Quattroporte: the sporty Modena, the high-performance Trofeo, and the luxury-oriented GT.

Maserati Quattroporte Engine

The 3.0 litre V-6 and the 3.8 litre V-8 twin-turbo engines both produce magnificent operatic harmonies when pushed hard. Customers won't be yearning for either of them to have greater passing power. The GT's V-6 engine has 345 horsepower, but choosing the Modena increases that engine's output to 424 horsepower. Rear-wheel drive and an eight-speed automatic transmission are included as standard; all-wheel drive is exclusively an option on the Modena level. An special 580-hp twin-turbo 3.8-liter V-8 engine powers the Trofeo variant. The Quattroporte rewards enthusiastic drivers with a strong suspension, nimble handling, and direct, intuitive steering. Due to its retrograde calibration, it has substantial drag and binding in non-hazardous situations and provides a rather unluxurious feel overall.

Maserati Quattroporte Mileage

Both of the Quattroporte's available engines aren't especially fuel-efficient, but the twin-turbo V-6 model with rear-wheel drive is the most cost-effective option. The EPA estimates that it gets 17 mpg in the city, 24 mpg on the highway, and 19 mpg overall. All-wheel drive lowers each of those figures by 1 mpg, while the predictions for the V-8-powered Trofeo variant are 2 mpg lower overall.

Maserati Quattroporte Interior

The interior of the 2022 Quattroporte is mixed with less expensive plastic components and switchgear that was taken directly from the Chrysler parts catalogue (Maserati is owned by Chrysler's parent company, Stellantis). Soft leather, Ermenegildo Zegna silk, real carbon fibre, genuine wood, and nicely finished metal accents look and feel fantastic. The Quattroporte, an Italian sedan, is priced similarly to the flagship models of the German core luxury brands, but it has a smaller interior than those full-size vehicles and is more comparable to that of mid-size vehicles like the Audi A6, BMW 5-series, and Mercedes-Benz E-class. Although the Executive Rear Seats option includes reclining seats in the rear, it seems that this choice was made just to keep up with German display a range. There isn't enough space for reclining with average-sized people front and back. However, the package does come with a fixed centre console and additional temperature controls, as well as heating and ventilation for the back seats. This creates a DMZ for elbow contact. Given that those who can afford the starting price of the Quattroporte aren't likely to travel light, the trunk may also be roomier.

Infotainment System

Google's Android Automotive platform serves as the foundation for the Quattroporte's infotainment system. The user interface has a voice-activated virtual assistant and is displayed onto a 10.1-inch touchscreen. Customers have the option to upgrade the audio to either a 10-speaker Harman/Kardon configuration or a 15-speaker Bowers & Wilkins system, and connection options for Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are standard.

Maserati Quattroporte Exterior

Finding a poor viewpoint on this vehicle is pointless since it still looks as amazing as it did when it was first introduced. This includes the trademark grille, which was gently changed last year, as well as the side air ducts and massive exhaust outlets. A motorised sunroof, 19-inch Poseidone alloy wheels, adaptive full LED headlights, and Chromeline exterior trim are included in the basic model. New bumpers and more aggressive front and rear fascias with significant front air intakes are added to the Modena. Instead of being chrome like the GT, its fender badging and the Maserati trident on the C-pillar are black. All models got new rear-light lenses last year that, when lighted, have a "boomerang" motif to honour the 3200 GT, the first vehicle to use LED rear lights.

Safety

On the Quattroporte, Maserati provides a number of driver-assistance systems, several of which are standard.

  • Pedestrian detection standard automatic emergency braking

  • Lane-keeping assistance and a standard lane-departure warning

  • Adaptive cruise control is a standard feature with a semi-autonomous driving mode
